Proudly Serving Wilmington & Coastal North Carolina
Who We Are
Hunt Reifschneider and Leigh Sunshine are trusted guides and patient advocates for individuals and families navigating the complexities of aging and senior care. With more than two decades of combined experience, their commitment to serving older adults and their families is both professional and deeply personal — rooted in decades of clinical experience and shaped by their own lived experiences as family caregivers.
For Hunt, the path into senior care began when he welcomed his father into his home. That firsthand caregiving experience opened his eyes to the patience, compassion, and sustained commitment that supporting a loved one truly requires. For Leigh, already working professionally with seniors and caregivers as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the journey took on new meaning when her mother suffered a stroke — placing Leigh squarely in the sandwich generation, simultaneously caring for her mother, raising young children, and maintaining a full-time career.
Those life-altering experiences became the foundation of everything Hunt and Leigh do today. As a husband-and-wife team, they bring a rare combination of clinical knowledge, operational experience, and deep familiarity with the full continuum of aging care and residential real estate — and an understanding of what families are truly going through that only comes from having lived it themselves.
HuntLeigh helps individuals and families navigate complex care decisions with clarity, compassion, and confidence — through personalized guidance, coordination, and advocacy.

Shared Experience
Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experience, Hunt and Leigh founded and successfully operated three licensed residential assisted living and memory care homes. Their guiding principles were simple but unwavering: treat every resident as a beloved family member, honor each person's unique needs and personality, and work closely with families to ensure comfort and confidence throughout the caregiving journey.
Hunt's own mother eventually became a resident in one of their care homes — a deeply meaningful chapter that further cemented their commitment to compassionate, dignified care. After years of serving their community, they made the difficult decision to sell their residential care homes and begin a new chapter.
That chapter led them to relocate to the coast of North Carolina to be closer to family. Families continued to seek their guidance — navigating home care, hospice, skilled nursing, memory care, assisted living, and the full spectrum of senior care decisions. That ongoing calling to serve ultimately led Hunt and Leigh to establish HuntLeigh Care Coordination & Advocacy, bringing their full depth of experience to the families of Wilmington and Coastal North Carolina.
What sets them apart is not just what they know — it is what they have lived. They have been the caregiver, the decision-maker, the advocate, and the operator. That breadth of experience is what they bring to every family they serve.
